It is coming up on the shortest day of the year and there is lots of darkness and grey here by the lake yet in the darkness I am finding light or the promise of it... It's a great time to reflect on the year and I am grateful for all that is good and filled with love.

Getting so close to making the beads look like real rocks! There are 4 of each, can you tell which are beads? Love the smooth shiny surface of the stones from Lake Superior after being tumbled for weeks.
Had a wonderful morning looking at all kinds of beads and findings at Beadworks in Norwalk CT. I let Hannah, who works at the store and is exceptionally at wonderful customer service, pick a bead from my traveling beadpile. It was interesting that she chose one similar to the colors in the beads that Janna and Ash at Beth Milner Jewelry in Marquette Michigan chose.
Leslie from Marquette MI, recently took a workshop and showed me her great tapestry weaving project. Wow how cool is this, it's so inspirational and I love her way of capturing the natural beauty of this area near Lake Superior. Her loom is crafted with copper tubing and wing nuts. Very cool in that it is lightweight and portable !
The heat is on, and summer is in full swing. Loving the colors and shapes of the flowers that surround my studio.
Last day of July, and the garden is full of shades of pink, purple and orange. Not my familiar palette of blue so it's all about change, risk taking and allowing space for playfulness. |
