I planted lots of colorful flowers and pollinators in the garden this year. I even started dahlias and zinnias from seed that I purchased at Floret Farms in Washington State.( floretflowers.com) My niece Sally and I are working on more garden illustrations....stay tuned !
Rocks rock...and pebbles are great too! I love the circles, stripes, lines, holes, smooth surfaces and indentations. Handmade foam stamps are a fun way to try to reproduce the shapes, textures, and color. Bubble wrap and stencils work too.
With the return of cold weather, there is still indoor studio time to stay focused what to do with the giant piles of gel print pages. So grateful for a bookbinding class I took many years ago.
I have been having lots of fun with a cheerful spring color palette while preparing demo pieces for teaching another introductory class in gel plate printing, I focused on using repurposed household items to make the stencils, masks and textures. Still trying to embrace the "de-clutter" mantra but it gets a bit messy when I need multiple pieces of bubble wrap, toilet paper rolls, mesh produce bags, bottle tops, ribbed cardboard,, egg cartons, and other cool stuff.
