LEAP DAY

2/29/2016

I took advantage of the Leap Day to break out of my usual routine and be give my body mind and spirit a treat.  I first found my helmet, pumped up a flat tire and got out on my bike!  Wow I honestly cannot remember being on my bike in February in this part of the world….ever!  It felt amazing to breathe the crisp clean air and feel it fill my lungs and heart with joy.
The road ride along the calm lakeside was clear and dry and not a car, person, dog or deer was in sight. The open road was mine in all of its magic and greatness.  Thank you leap day 2016 for providing the opportunity to step into my personal pedal power and be out there, escaping the studio routine and  loving the fossil fuel freedom as I moved along the road with a giant smile for me and  my mother earth.

WEEKEND ESCAPE

2/23/2016

Back at the lake after taking a short weekend getaway. We saw the sun, visited wineries, tasted signature reds and whites, visited a few galleries, discovered some interesting locally recommended favorite places to eat and basically recharged our winter body, mind and spirits.

This morning I was greeted by the familiar gossamer grey cloud bank over the lake, I was prepared for another....day, being thankful for the rain for the forests creeks and streams, but much to my surprise the sky became blue and the sunshine is hanging in there.
I even moved the indoor clothes drying rack outside to take advantage of the solar abundance.
I am still feeling the weekend's glow and the magic of each new day.  I am so grateful for all that I have and still being on the planet! Having the opportunity  to  adventurously celebrate Bob’s birthday was a gift we both shared.

We found a fabulous place to stay on Air BnB which gave us lots of room to spread out and have a few simple meals in the privacy of our own space and with the kind of healthy food we like to start the day with.  Yup I brought my nutri-bullet and my green drinks were a much loved alternative to the usual continental breakfast bars or institutional resort/ restaurant fare.   Our hosts were wonderful at Summerland Sleeps check them out at:  www.airbnb.ca/rooms/7874112?s=MfTRWbWP

An  amulet  is  thought to have magical powers and protect the owner from danger or harm.  This amulet has the healing power of copper, silver and glass. The light and dark  transparent blues swirled in the glass symbolize the sky and sea.  Blue is associated with depth and stability, symbolizing trust, loyalty,  wisdom , confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.  Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.  For more info.  go to http://www.color-wheel-pro.com.

SIDETRACKED

Got a bit distracted by the pull of the fabric but was able to get back on track after just playing with this pillow project and playing with the vegetable fabrics. For time sake I left the fruit and berries fabric alone and got back into art journaling. Still avoided working with the beads. Oh well, I know it is because it is too cold in my cabin studio which means wood stove work: carrying and splitting wood, find kindling, and yada yada.  Just not into that part of it today.

WEEKEND MANTRA

I love good fabric stores, the colors and designs are fertile soil for  countless possibilities.  Just getting past the fat squares section is like going through some kind of fabric denial that I haven't quite come to terms with.  How could brining home just a few neatly wrapped collections be such a problem?  After a trip to the coast, and discovering a wonderful shop called Esther's Fabrics on Bainbridge Island in Washington State, http://www.esthersfabrics.com  I came back with a collection of fruit and vegetable fabrics.....I must be thinking about the garden too.  Oh no the seed catalogs are another distraction.  Time to stop daydreaming and focus on the bead making I told myself I was going to do.  Hope your weekend goes well and you have the best time ever!

It is February and it was fun to open the annealer and see these creations.  I am experimenting with colors I bought a year ago but never tried.  It is always a learning curve for new colors. I especially love the bright translucent red of the CIM Sangre.  For information on colors and glass visit http://www.frantzartglass.com/
